Even the base-model Land Rover Defender 110 delivers a 3D Surround Camera, Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keep Assist, automatic Emergency Braking, a two-speed transfer case, Electronic Air Suspension with Adaptive Dynamics, and even off-road features like Terrain Response® and Wade Sensing.

Here are some of the key features:

  1. Advanced Tow Assist: This feature is designed to make reversing while towing easier. It allows you to control the direction of the trailer using a rotary controller on the center console.

  2. Tow Hitch Assist: This feature helps you align the tow hitch with the trailer. It uses the rearview camera and graphics displayed on the infotainment system to guide you into the correct position.

  3. Trailer Stability Assist: This feature helps to prevent trailer sway by detecting the movement of the trailer and applying brakes to individual wheels to bring it back in line.

  4. Terrain Response 2: This feature is designed to optimize the vehicle's performance based on the terrain. It includes a Tow Response mode that adjusts the throttle response, gearshift points, and suspension to make towing more stable and predictable.

  5. Electronic Air Suspension: This feature allows you to adjust the ride height of the vehicle to accommodate different trailer heights and load weights.

  6. Adaptive Dynamics: This feature constantly monitors the vehicle's movements and adjusts the suspension to improve stability and handling, particularly when towing.

  7. All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC): This feature is designed to maintain a steady speed when driving on difficult terrain, allowing you to concentrate on steering and maneuvering while the vehicle takes care of the throttle and braking.

Our Airstream

2023 23fbt Airstream International:

In late 2022 we upgraded from our 22 foot Caravel to our current 23 foot International fbt - the dual axels make us feel a little more confident on the road, it sleeps up to 4, and has a separate shower and bath. The U-shaped dinette is great (although we plan to modify the table a little as it’s a smidge wobbly), it has a 3 burner gas stove, separate fridge and freezer, and plenty of interior storage.

We opted for the twin bed configuration as this opens up the center aisle for us completely - allowing for the dog crate and some extra space for moving around and changing clothes. As the Airstream website says: “Twin beds also create the illusion that the floor plan looks much longer. With a few pillows and blankets, the separate beds can also function as day beds or lounges while watching TV or enjoying a book.” Another bonus? The twin mattress measure 5” longer than the queen bed - which is a benefit for James.

Speaking of tall people and height requirements - another benefit of the model we chose is that the interior height is 6 feet 7.5 inches - which gives James plenty of room to move around without ever having to duck and makes the interior feel more spacious.

The nitty gritty:

  1. Exterior Length: 23 feet 9 inches (7.24 meters)

  2. Exterior Width: 8 feet (2.44 meters)

  3. Exterior Height: 9 feet 9.5 inches (2.98 meters)

  4. Interior Height: 6 feet 7.5 inches (2.02 meters)

  5. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR): 6,000 pounds (2,721 kilograms)

  6. Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4 people

  7. Fresh Water Tank: 39 gallons (147.6 liters)

  8. Gray Water Tank: 35 gallons (132.5 liters)

  9. Black Water Tank: 18 gallons (68.14 liters)

  10. Propane Tanks: 2 x 30 lbs (13.6 kg) each
